  1. Why change a tried and tested format? Not useful for the busy clinician just to have an alphabetical list

the new format is a disaster. The change to a simple alphabetical list for drugs is counter intuative. This is not useful for a busy GP who is often searching in particularly classes rather than for individual drugs. Please can you reconsider this? Back to paper version for me I am afraid.

      • BRING BACK THE STANDRAD BNF

please STOP listing medications in alphabetical order. The standard way you have been listing them under categories were perfect.
In a busy clinic as a GP, i want to be able to access the information i need quickly. NOT possible with the new format.
Really, what "clever" person decided to change things. Sometimes, despite "wanting" to be "dynamic" and "moving with the times" and all the other PR nonsense talk, just leave things alone. I am sure you will be getting a lot more comments similar to this - by the GPs who manage to squeeze in the time to…

        • New BNF format does not identify drug class or allow comparison of all drugs in class

Examples from this weekend on call:
          - Prescribing benzodiazepines for agitation - paper BNF category of "Anxiety" only lists three drugs, not allowing wider choice and direct comparison of all drugs in the class
          - Looking up unfamiliar drug hydroxyzine - BNF online only tells me it's for pruritus, not that it's a sedating antihistamine. I was about to co-prescribe promethazine and that information was therefore vital to my clinical decision.

If you wish to persist with this category format (e.g. by condition/indication, not drug class), can you please add information about the drug class to the individual listings? And…

          • Calculators on the new BNF please

The BNF Legacy has the calculators for BMI, body surface area etc. easily accessible. They're not findable, possibly non-existent under the new format. My pharmacist users are using the BNF Legacy to access calculators but are concerned as the future of BNF Legacy is uncertain to us. In general, the new BNF structure has been a source of much dismay and confusion for my users.

            • I'm disappointe with your new webiste format. the previous one worked well. as a clinician I relied on it completely for day to day queries.

go back please to old format.
i don't want alphabetical list of meds , i want the clinical tree. to see what family of meds does this individual med belong too and what others are there
              very disappointed

              • A threat to patient safety

BNF was the bastion of responsible prescribing. Your reducing it to a picking list of alphabetical products significantly denies us and our patients of this intelligent prescribing support. Please listen to the prescribers' feedback as the changes are a backward step in terms of patient safety.

                • I have found several errors in the new edition - example 'Kliovance' is missing from the index

& the list of HRTs containing estradiol have no dosages so unuseable. Has BNF been privatised/outsourced?

                  • Please revise the emollients section urgently

I am a very heavy BNF user. In the main I like the new BNF format though I am bemused at the way information labels have become quite random. Seems dangerous to me. But... I have just been working though emollients section, and it has driven me nuts. Nightmare! In the print version emollient stuff seems all over the place. The division of products in various sections is confusing ( and for me illogical). And why is the 'fire safety box' in the 'emollients with antimicrobials' section and not with paraffin? Emollients are frequently brand prescribed, yet many commonly used…

please bring back links to the hierachy as one of the most useful features was to jump to a drug and climb up the tree to review the advice and have all the alternatives on the same page.

I note the current advice page is right at the bottom of the query return, it would be better at the top in the intervening period.

                      • Utterly user unfriendly., Complicated, and FRUSTERATING website

This website is confusing, not user friendly and Frustrating.
Whoever designed this site may be a highly technical but has not his feet on the ground to understand that Simple ands easy is the best.
I suggest the designer be send to Sweden to learn how to make a site user-friendly and easily accessible.

                        • This new format of BNF is a tragedy

This new format of BNF is a tragedy for a busy clinician. It takes so much more time, it's so much more difficult to find information, Adult and Child doses together - just asking for mistakes to happen. Scrolling down this enormously long and narrow central column is so inconvenient, difficult to read.
Impossible to identify drug class when search used - just the initial letter, THANKS FOR THAT!
Why nobody asked us? Why a format that worked for so long has been changed? Why wasn't it trialed?....

                          • The new format is terrible and misses out really useful information

The patient tells me that she takes a white Warfarin tablet one day, and a brown the next. The old BNF could have told me this easily under the dose. The new one has a load of different companies that package warfarin, and their individual costs (I don't really care) but not the useful information so that I can quickly prescribe this patient's warfarin. Thank goodness for the BNF legacy page. Old layout, SO much better.

                                      • The new online BNF is not an improvement

My first experience was trying to look up the ingredients of an HRT preparation - Elleste Duet.

                                        1. I had to page down 7 or 8 times to get from the names of the hormones to the preparation details.
                                        2. When I got to the preparation, it was under a heading of "form unstated" rather than tablets. More worryingly the entry only says there are 84 tablets - it no longer specifies the number of oestrogen only and the number of combined tablets, nor does it say the strength of the progestogen. These are major omissions. I had to find…

                                        • I don't need a year's access and you'll never get $720.00 from me. What about a week or a day's access?

I'm willing to pay a reduced cost for a day's or a week's access, as I only need a brief time for my research.
